CSI: Noctilucent Clouds

I recently saw an article on AOL that was too good to not mention (Clouds Offer Clue to Century-Old Mystery) since how often do clouds get to do a CSI impersonation?

The article talks about an obscure cloud type–one that have been observed thousands of miles away from the earth and is created by shuttle launches–that might explain how 80,000,000 trees in a Russian forest (in Tunguska) were destroyed in 1908. These clouds are called noctilucent.

It’s not directly weather-related, but it’s a fascinating read nonetheless.
