Meteorogological DeJa Vu

By Paul Yeager, author of Weather Whys: Facts, Myths, and Oddities

The remnants of Tropical Depression 5, which dissipated before moving into Louisiana last week, has moved southward back into the Gulf of Mexico, where it has a chance to once again intensify into a tropical depression or tropical storm.

While the system has been given a 60% chance of becoming at least a tropical depression by the National Hurricane Center, its potential for development is limited by its proximity to land and how quickly it will again return to shore (perhaps as early as tomorrow).

Since it has the potential to become a tropical storm (it will be called Tropical Storm Danielle if named), it’s certainly worth monitoring this meteorological version of deja vu.
